Microsoft Integrates Windows 11 with Meta Quest Headsets at Ignite 2024

On November 19th, Microsoft announced at the Ignite 2024 conference that it will deeply integrate Windows 11 with Meta Quest headsets. Soon, Meta Quest users will be able to easily pair their Windows 11 PCs with Meta Quest 3 and 3S headsets, and directly stream PC screens into the VR environment. It is reported that this feature supports not only local PCs but also Windows 365 cloud PCs. Users can freely adjust the size and position of virtual displays in VR space, obtaining an immersive multi-screen working experience.

Microsoft stated that this feature will be available for preview next month (December). Pavan Davuluri, Vice President of Microsoft’s Windows and Devices division, said: “Windows in mixed reality will bring all the features of Windows 11 to mixed reality headsets, starting with Meta Quest 3 and 3S. Accessing local Windows PCs or Windows 365 cloud PCs from Quest headsets is very simple, and it takes only a few seconds to connect to a private, high-quality, large multi-monitor workstation.

” It has been noted that Microsoft’s close cooperation with Meta has been ongoing for some time. Microsoft Mesh has already landed on Meta Quest, bringing VR Teams meetings to the Quest platform. In addition, Microsoft Office online applications have also been launched in the Quest store. It is worth mentioning that Microsoft recently canceled the production of HoloLens 2 mixed reality headsets, and the company seems to intend to realize its vision in the VR field through cooperation with other manufacturers.
