China Telecom’s Innovations at World Display Industry Innovation and Development Conference

According to the news on December 20, the World Display Industry Innovation and Development Conference was held in Chengdu from December 19 to 20. China Telecom showcased its achievements such as the independently developed XR immersive experience space, special screens for the ‘100 Cities and 1000 Screens’ initiative, the Xingchen large model, and the drone star patrol platform. China Telecom launched the nation’s first 5G-A + 8K-VR low-altitude live broadcasting system at the conference.

This system uses drones equipped with China Telecom’s self-developed 8K-VR live broadcasting dedicated camera. Relying on 5G-A network technology, the front-end drone aerial footage is transmitted in real time to the XR space, realizing panoramic presentation of ground conditions, detailed pictures, and three-dimensional space scenes. It is reported that this technology can be widely used in fields such as earthquake relief and emergency command.

When the drone arrives at the scene for the first time, the XR space immediately reproduces the panoramic image of the emergency site in real time, fully displaying the situation ahead and assisting in command and decision-making. In addition, the XR immersive space can also provide a new immersive naked-eye interaction solution for industry fields such as urban management, cultural tourism and museums, smart party building, digital factories, digital agriculture, education and training, and metaverse experience.

It is noted that at the conference site, the ‘100 Cities and 1000 Screens’ joint broadcasting network and special screens in Sichuan Province were unveiled. The joint broadcasting network was jointly initiated and established by the Sichuan Ultra-High Definition Video Industry Alliance, Sichuan Radio and Television Station, and China Telecom Sichuan Company. It has the ability to relay 8K programs and has successfully participated in activities such as the 8K live broadcast of the Spring Festival Gala of CCTV, the live broadcast of the Winter Olympics, and the live broadcast of the Universiade.

The special screen for the ‘100 Cities and 1000 Screens’ has a screen granularity of P1.25 and supports flexible access and rapid deployment of the joint broadcasting network.
